Periodical Profile: Teen Vogue

If you’ve been to the library recently, you’ll have noticed this month’s display of Young Adult audio books. If you haven’t been to the library lately, I urge you to drop by and take a look at this fantastic display. I would also urge you to look at the shelves under the display – that’s where the Young Adult magazines are housed. The most recent issues of magazines – the ones that are in the plastic binders – must be read in the library, but past issues can be checked out. You can check out six magazines at a time.

One of the magazines the library subscribes to is Teen Vogue, a fun fashion and style magazine. As with its parent magazine Vogue, the magazine focuses on fashion: articles on designers and labels, highlights of what’s hot this season, and details of what’s new in jeans, bags, and more. Celebrity profiles can also be found within Teen Vogue’s pages. The August issue’s cover story is on Amanda Seyfried (of Mean Girls fame), and past issues have had cover stories on Natalie Portman, Ellen Page, and Hayden Panetierre.

This would be the perfect magazine to get ideas on what to wear this summer. The August issue is also a great source for back-to-school shopping information, since it has several articles devoted to the subject.
